Trade Awareness Workshop for Regional Editors

The CSME Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat has joined forces with two United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programmes, to host a workshop for CARICOM Newspaper Editors.

It will be held in Barbados on March 30 to 31, at the Savannah Hotel.The unit will be collaborating with the Latin America and Caribbean Trade Project (LAC TRADE) and the Caribbean Trade and Competitiveness Development Programme (C-TRADECOM).

The workshop is aimed at further honing the skills of newsroom leaders, with particular emphasis on the print media, and raising the level of awareness and understanding of trade issues among newspaper editors within the CARICOM region.

Chief Information Officer of the Barbados Government Information Service, Jacqueline Wiltshire, will deliver remarks at the opening ceremony, while CARICOM's Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Lolita Applewhaite, will give the feature address.

Twenty-three representatives from the region are expected to attend the two-day workshop which will comprise lectures and participatory exercises.
