C-TRADECOM Services

What Support Does C-TRADECOM Offer?

C-TRADECOM provides technical and sometimes financial support to projects that fall within C-TRADECOM's strategic objectives of improving the capacity of firms to deliver goods and services by international standards and establishing a legislative/policy framework to support free trade and competition. The client/counterpart is expected to provide a significant contribution through allocation of staff time, purchase of equipment and/or materials or otherwise. C-TRADECOM works closely with the counterpart to develop a subproject whose results are clearly defined and measurable in the short and medium term and are in line with the project mandate.

Who Qualifies For C-TRADECOM Support?

Those eligible for C-TRADECOM Support are:

  • Private professional or industrial associations (such as chambers of commerce, trade associations or producers associations), operating in the target countries. Special consideration will be given to regional and sub-regional associations;
  • Public sector agencies, regional and sub-regional organisations that facilitate trade and private sector competitiveness in CARICOM and the Dominican Republic;
  • Firms and groups of firms. In the first phase of the project, assistance will primarily be offered to firms located in the OECS and operating in the target sectors of:
    • Hospitality services;
    • Information and Communication Technology services;
    • Manpower (Professional) Services.

What Projects Are Eligible For C-TRADECOM Support?

C-TRADECOM assists with projects that address legal, regulatory and policy obstacles to private sector competitiveness. It also provides direct technical support. This support focuses mainly on service industries such as information communications technology services, tourism, professional services, and other service firms. As a short-term project, C-TRADECOM addresses practical, achievable short and medium-term objectives. Projects supported by C-TRADECOM should be sustainable when the intervention ends. All C-TRADECOM sub-projects will be assigned specific, measurable deliverables that improve the competitive positions of private services firms. C-TRADECOM will deliver assistance primarily on a "wholesale" basis.
